The First Weber Rhinelander Office hosted a pulled pork lunch fundraiser Sept. 15 to benefit Northwoods Veterans Homestead, raising over $1800. The First Weber Foundation will match the donations (up to $2,500) for the event.
The Northwoods Veterans Homestead is a 501(c)3 organization dedicated to helping Wisconsin's homeless veterans.
The event was featured on their local NBC news affiliate, during which Northwoods Veterans Homestead representative Gordy Edington explained, "90% of homeless veterans in the state of Wisconsin are normally north of Highway 29 and there is nobody up here that does this so this is a challenge for us."
Agent Todd Johnson said, "I think this is very important and I think across the board it made us feel good that we can give back and help the community,"
The First Weber Foundation was organized in 2006 to provide First Weber agents and offices with a way to give back to their community. Since that time, the Foundation has given more than $4 Million to non-profits - with most of that money staying in Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The First Weber Foundation is a 501(c)3 organization.
