First Weber Mauston Overwhelmed by Food Pantry Fundraiser

Smiling professional real estate agents present oversized check to food pantry workers on a sunny day outside.
First Weber Mauston agents and Regional Manager Tom Weber presented the proceeds of the December radio-thon fundraiser to the Community Sharing Pantry. Over $24,308 was raised for the food pantry in Mauston.

Fundraising is not new to the agents at First Weber Mauston. For years, they have been raising funds for the Mauston Food Pantry/Community Sharing Pantry by collecting donations during the live performances held by the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train event, known throughout the region for helping food pantries along its route.

Over the past two years, though, the CoVid Pandemic forced a change - but not the desire to help. This year the FW Mauston agents, led by Liz Walker, added a new twist: a radio-thon with local station WRJC. Liz said she thought they might raise about $7,000, but she was overwhelmed by how far they exceeded that goal!

Bolstered by a $2,500 match from the First Weber Foundation and a matching gift from a local donor, the Mauston agents raised $24,308.67!

Liz said, "The Radio-thon was actually more effective for pledges, as we hit people in the early morning rush hour, and they could call or text in their donations." Liz and the other Mauston agents are proud of what they accomplished for their community, and Liz added, "Kathy, Angela, Sam and I had a lot of fun talking on the radio: WRJC was a great partner!" A great partner, indeed!

Congratulations to Mauston on a very successful event, and thank you for using the Foundation to make a difference in your community!
